Diabetes runs in Lacretia's family, so she's never taken her health for granted. This commitment was tested when two life-altering events turned her world upside down, and the years that followed. When she was ready to reclaim her health, she found a partner in Ivy Rx ready to meet her there.
"I chose a GLP-1 as a tool to help me lose weight, but also to support inflammation and increased insulin resistance that came with perimenopause.” - Lacretia R.
Lacretia says this has been about so much more than weight loss—it’s been about rebuilding my health, confidence, and self-love.
5 lbs lost (first two weeks)
Feeling full on 1/2-sized portions (weeks three and four)
Energy returned & fatigue gone (by month two)
Down 20 lbs and becoming healthier (by month three)
Lacretia says she’s excited to continue becoming “her,” a healthier, better version of herself, and knows Ivy Rx will help her reach her goals.
Diabetes runs heavily in my family, and after watching my mother, battle it for years before she passed, I’ve always been intentional about protecting my health and avoiding diabetes at all costs. At 41, I lost 50 pounds for the second time by becoming a runner and eventually got into the best shape of my life while training for a bodybuilding fitness competition.
Then my life was turned upside down. My little girl was diagnosed with a rare liver cancer in January 2020 and passed away in September of 2020 and the grief shattered me. I gained the weight back immediately and more.
Six years later, now after having her little brother at 43 and with a sweet little boy depending on me, I knew it was time to prioritize my health again. I chose a GLP-1 as a tool to help me lose weight, but also to support inflammation and increased insulin resistance that came with perimenopause. At this stage in my life, it felt like the right decision for my health and my future.
To be honest, Ivy RX had been on my radar for a while after seeing someone I admired partner with them and completely transform their health. Watching her journey inspired me because I remember thinking, I want to feel healthy, strong, and confident like that again.
About a year later, the opportunity came for me to begin my own GLP-1 journey with Ivy RX, and it felt aligned with exactly where I was in life. I loved that their approach also allowed me to incorporate longevity-focused peptides as part of my overall wellness journey. For me, this has been about so much more than weight loss—it’s been about rebuilding my health, confidence, and self-love. Honestly, it feels a little like I manifested this partnership.
During my first week on a GLP-1, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. The biggest thing I noticed was some fatigue the day after my injection, but thankfully I didn’t experience nausea. My appetite was still there, and I was excited to see an initial 5-pound loss, which gave me encouragement that my body was responding.
By week two, I noticed some mild digestive changes and occasional constipation, so I made hydration, fiber, and supportive supplements a priority to keep things moving and help me feel my best.
Around weeks three and four is when things really started to click. I found myself making the same portions I was used to, but for the first time, I actually felt full sooner. It was like my body was finally helping me recognize when I’d had enough. I realized I was eating about half of what I normally would, which made me more intentional about choosing nutrient-dense foods and prioritizing protein.
By month two, my energy had returned, the fatigue was gone, and I continued losing weight—which made me even more motivated and excited to keep showing up for myself on this journey.
I’m still on my journey to becoming the healthiest, strongest version of myself in my 40s, and one thing I’ve learned is this: you don’t have to do everything the “hard way.”
I was hesitant to start a GLP-1 because I’ve always believed in pushing through and relying on discipline alone. But I realized a GLP-1 isn’t a shortcut—it’s a tool. It doesn’t do the work for you, but it can help set you up for success.
I still make intentional food choices. I still move my body. I still show up for myself every day. The difference is that now, I feel supported in the process. A GLP-1 has helped put me in a better position to do the things I already knew I needed to do—and do them more consistently.
If you’ve been on the fence, my advice is simple: don’t let guilt, fear, or the idea that you have to struggle hold you back from getting support. Your health is worth investing in, and sometimes the strongest thing you can do is give yourself the tools to succeed.
